![]() The surface properties of Eleoratm fiber make it resistant to tinting using Sharpietm markers, Petting Zoo Wig Dyetm, or various "homemade" alcohol/ink dye methods. However, I have finally finished reworking my Petting Zoo Wig Dyetm formula so that it can now tint this fiber successfully, AND stay on the fiber after rinsing. (Markers and ink dye will have to fend for themselves.) Here are the pictures of the new dye in action on an "Angela" wig from New Look (This is the "Faux Fatale" at Amphigory.) made from Eleora fiber. The color I'm using is "Powder Blue". (This is the first color I made of my old formula, so I thought it fitting to make it the first of the improved formula.) | ![]() |

![]() 1. I've parted a section out of the wig, and masked the rest with paper towel. This isn't necessary for using the new formula, I just did it so I didn't dye the rest of the wig. ^,^' |
![]() 2. Just like with the old formula, spray the dye on from about 6-8 inches away until you have covered the whole piece. |
![]() 3. Comb the color through using a fine toothed comb, combrush, or a blending brush. (I'm using "The Magic Brush".) |
![]() 4. Blowdry on low heat to set the dye. |
![]() 5. This is what the freshly dried piece looks like. The color here is a little darker than the final color because the loose pigment is still on the surface of the fiber. |
![]() 6. While rinsing the whole wig will accomplish the same thing, I'm just rinsing off the dyed section with a wet paper towel. (Wet, not "damp".) |
![]() 7. The excess pigment is now visible on the paper towel. If I had been using the old formula on this wig, there would be a lot more pigment on the towel, and this step would have just gone on forever. |
![]() 8. Allow to air dry to see the final color. (Although I didn't use any, you can also add conditioner during this step if you'd like.) |
![]() 9. Now, here is the moment of truth... does the dye stay on the fiber? I've got another wet paper towel... |
![]() 10. ...I drag it down the fiber... |
![]() 11. ..and the payoff! No extra pigment in the towel! Just like with the old formula, if you are using a darker color, there will be more rinse-off during that step, since the pigment volume is much higher. The primary difference is that the new formula is able to successfully embed into Eleora fiber without negatively affecting the texture. It will still work equally as well on Kanekalon and Toyokalon fibers as it always has. |
